Review:: Tracy Negoshian!

 Monday, July 22, 2013

Happy Monday!

I hope your summer is going great! Can you believe its already July 21st? I certainly cant!  It seems like just yesterday I started this crazy internship but this marks the seventh week of working.

Living in New York is just the greatest. Whether your on the subway, sitting in a park, or even walking down the street you can always find someone with a signature style and some adorable clothes. Seeing so many fashionistas, in their own way, has made me question my own style. Yes I do consider myself a very preppy inspired dresser but there isn’t something about my own style that I would consider very unique.

For inspiration I look towards one of my favorite preppy but chic fashion lines, Tracy Negoshian. Every time I look at Tracy Negoshian’s newest collections I find a new piece, pattern or even fabric choice that is unexpected but so cute.

Tracy Negoshian herself is a very fashion forward woman who believes that the right clothing can transform a woman. Tracy actually started in fashion merchandising at Saks before she started her own line. Tracy really did have a knack for making lower end clothing (even pieces from stores like Kmart) look incredibly stylish. In a better use of her talents, Tracy set out to make clothing that was fashion envy at prices that would not break the bank.

I think that ultimately, we all set out to buy high quality, figure flattering, and trendy items but that combination is usually very expensive. All the outfits that I find myself loving on the streets of NYC are not from stores like forever 21 but from high end designers for which I could not afford the clothes.

As a college student, always trying to spend less, I was intrigued to see if the fashions on Tracy Negoshian's website were as high quality as the designer pieces. The fashion was definitely to par and I am obsessed with the new collection!

I picked out the Trisha Dress with Cut Out Back Detail for this review.

Isn't it pretty? At $148 I think it looks much more expensive, even like a Tory Burch dress. I love the Diamonds in the Reef Purple Pattern.

I am all about a modern shift dress. Shifts are a very classic dress shape that are core pieces in a preppy wardrobe. I own many especially because you can move a shift from a summer dress to a fall or winter staple with the additions of a cardigan and stockings. But its still summer (boy is it hot outside!) so there will be no stockings or cardigans for me. Here is a picture of myself wearing this style.

I have a true hourglass figure but this dress slims me in all the right places! The quality is really superb and I love the fit. The dress comes in XS-XL and since I am between sizes I decided to size up. I am very happy with my call but think the sizing is TTS.

The dress features an elastic waist that does the job of a belt. It is made very well and the fabric is thicker than I thought.

I love the keyhole back. The little cut-out is very on trend right now and the key hole shows just enough skin. The Tracy Negoshian hardware is very expensive looking and I love their brands logo and motto.

Overall I am very impressed with this dress! I think that Tracy's slogan of "Dress in Confidence" is true because with this dress I feel like a million bucks!

Besides the dress that I picked out I found myself loving several other looks from the new collection. I also am loving this Adele Dress. The stripes with the nautical shapes and yellow belt is just perfect for summer.

It was so hard for me not to try this Gwen Dress. I love the vivid pattern and colors!

I have some good news to tell my readers. I will be hosting a Tracy Negoshian Giveaway starting Tomorrow morning! Keep your eyes out!

CVS Haul

 Monday, July 8, 2013

This summer I have started picking up some new activities. Maybe its my new environment in the west village of NYC or maybe its the fact that Im growing older. Either way, I am enjoying the new hobbies.

First, Ive always been a bit of cheapskate I know thats not usually a complement but I have a hard time letting go of my cash unless I know I am getting a good deal. My dad has always been a coupon cutter but I never got into clipping because when it comes to food I like particular flavors/brands. I never realized that a good amount of the coupons were for haircare and makeup! Now Im hooked!

Second, I have started collecting lipstick/lipgloss. I rarely wear makeup but when I do I realized I never had a go-to shade when it came to lip color. I am enjoying my hunt for the perfect pinks, reds, plums, and other fun lip shades. The only problem is that I like collecting them more than I wear them and now I have a supply that could easily last years.

So why am I mentioning this to you, my wonderful reader? I wanted to show one of my latest "hauls."

I took advantage of the CVS beauty sale going on a few weeks back and I made out pretty good!

All the makeup I snagged was 75% off and I had a few revlon coupons making this deal even sweeter. As you can see I picked up quite a few lip colors and I am really digging the revlon lip butter.

I know that a good majority of my readers are young women (and some moms) and finances are tight in the transition from college to full-on adulthood. I think that becoming aware of where your money is going and starting to become more cost-conscious is a path that should be more "in trend" and that hobbies like coupon cutting should be more widely accepted.

Have you picked up coupon cutting or lip stick? Any good hauls recently?

Review:: Lifeguard Press Lilly Pulitzer Agenda

 Thursday, July 4, 2013

Happy 4th of July!

Today is the day I thank America and our ancestors for all the liberties and ways that living in a free country changes our lives. I am grateful for freedom of speech among other very meaningful amendments.

I was looking forward to today for a while now. In school and at home I try to keep my Lilly Pulitzer agenda as updated as possible and I write in all my appointments  activities for the week.

Look! See how empty today was! My agenda is even telling me to relax and take it easy.

Speaking of agendas, the Lilly Pulitzer agenda is by far my favorite agenda on the market. Ive shopped around looking for the creme de la creme and could not find anything better than the Lilly version.

This year I got my Lilly Agenda from Lifeguard Press. The agendas have just arrived! Every year I think the choice of what pattern to chose gets harder and harder. Lilly puts out agendas in its newest patterns and the patterns that gain the biggest  stir during the year.

I was deciding between these agendas:

 I chose:

Let's Cha Cha!

The size is large and it retails for $28

I love the "large" size of the agenda. It is big enough that I have plenty of room for every day of the week but small enough that I dont feel like I am a lagging around a hardcover book.

The agenda comes with a page of Lilly stickers but since I always go through them faster than I would like I purchased some extra sticker sheets last year and have conserved enough to use again this year. I got the greek pack and the school pack!

You can see some of the natural "wear and tear" from my agenda from last year. I used the greek stickers to add my sorority!

The quality behind the agenda is great. I use mine almost every day. My only complaint is that the agendas are for 18 months instead of 12. I know that seems like a really terrible complaint because I get more value with the 6 extra months, but I am just so excited to use my new agenda that I will probably switch over as soon as I can.

Lifeguard Press is the go-to webstore for any Lilly Pulitzer merchandise and I always turn to them for the agendas. Besides Lilly, Lifeguard Press has an awesome selection of Jonathan Adler agendas and I was really digging this years patterns.

I love the Lets Cha Cha print and cannot wait to start writing in my agenda.

What is your favorite Lilly Agenda this year? Have you bought yours yet? If not go and check out Lifeguard Press!
